Welcome
to the Fairford 3k Fun Run
This is an enjoyable fun-filled event for all ages.
It is intended to be FUN with a capital F, so perhaps you would
like to do the run in fancy dress, run, jog or walk - the choice is yours.
You will be given a race number and four safety pins. Please remember to
bring your number and pin it to the front of your top.

Late Entries
Registration of On the Day Entrants will take place in the Marquee at the
Walnut Tree Field. Entries will be accepted until 9:30am.
Parking and Directions
Ample parking is available, which is sign posted
from the A417 (see maps). The only vehicle access is along Leafield Road, from the
Lower Croft; there is no access through Market Place / High Street nor
through Park Street. Fairford is 9 miles to the east of Cirencester on the
A417 and 15 miles north of Swindon. When parked, please follow the
signposts through the school grounds to the race start.
Changing
There are toilets, changing rooms and shower facilities at the Fairford
Sports Centre and toilets at the Marquee. Bags should be left in your car or in the changing rooms
(limited number of lockers available - need 20p coin). All belongings are
left at their owner's risk.
Start and Finish
The start of the 3k Fun Run is on Park Street near the entrance to
Fairford Park. Follow the signs from the car park to the start. Please
assemble in the High Street by St Mary's Church until the runners of the
Fairford 10k Road Race have cleared. The finish is at the other end of
Park Street by the Walnut Tree Field. Park Street will be closed to
traffic for the entire race duration, ie, from 8:30am till 12:30.
Safety
Please obey the marshals' instructions at all times. Please do not wear
radio headsets, run with a dog or push a pushchair (or similar) with a
child in it or be accompanied by others on cycles. The
Red Cross will provide medical cover. Children under 9 years must be
accompanied by an adult.
Refreshments
Drinks will be available at the finish. The Marquee in the
Walnut Tree Field has refreshments (hot and cold), bar and (limited)
toilet facilities. There will also be a lunch time bar-b-q and other
events to keep both children and adults entertained.
Awards
Each finisher will receive a medal. Prize giving will take place in the
Marquee at the Walnut Tree Field as soon as the results have been
compiled; this is scheduled to be about 11.30 a.m. Eight trophies will be
awarded to winners of the following age groups:
- 1st Infant Boy and 1st
Infant Girl ( 7 years and under )
- 1st Junior Boy and 1st
Junior Girl ( 8 - 11 years )
- 1st Boy and 1st Girl (
12 - 17 years )
- 1st Man and 1st Woman (
18 years and over )
3 Prizes will also be awarded for the
BEST FANCY DRESS.

The Course (see
map)
The route will be marked by direction arrows. Marshals will be located at
road crossings.
From the start on Park
Street, the course heads east past the Walnut Tree Field. At the junction
turns right and then left onto Mount Pleasant. Proceed down Hatherop Road.
Turn left into John Tame Close through the footpath onto St Mary's Drive.
At the junction with Leafield Road turn right towards the Schools and
Fairford Sports Centre. Turn left onto the campus, past Fairford Primary
School and head towards Fairford Sports Centre. Proceed down the little
service road by the Tennis Courts and head towards the back of Farmor's
School, through the wide gate and onto Fairford Park drive. At the bottom
turn left for the finish in Park Street. |
