Race Report
The tenth Invertec 3k Family Fun Run took place
on Sunday 4th June. The race was started by Olympic & Commonwealth
swimming champion and media personality Sharron Davies MBE, the Lady
Mayor Mrs Chris Roberts and the Town Crier Mr Maurice Jones. The 3k
started at 11:05 am.
The 3km Family Fun Run started outside St Mary’s Church in Fairford.
The run is for all ages whether young and up and coming junior athletes
pushing their children in prams. All finishers received a medal. There
were also prizes won for eight categories in four age groups:
1st Infant Boy (7 years and under): Sam Johnson - Fairford
1st Infant Girl: Zoe Wassell - Tetbury
1st Junior Boy (8-11 years): Emmett Thompson - Woolaston
1st Junior Girl: Fenella Madley - Lydney
1st Boy (12-17 years): George Reynolds - Carterton
1st Girl: Beth Pudifoot - Chedworth
1st Male (18 years and over): Jeremy Johnson - Fairford
1st Female: Louise Pudifoot - Chedworth
In addition this year there was a prize for the 1st Fairford male and
female to finish:
1st Fairford Male: Julian Harrison
1st Fairford Female: Dawn Johnson
Unfortunately due to the method of recording the finishing position
for the Fun Run, some race numbers were either recorded more than once
or not recorded at all. This situation is extremely difficult to resolve
in retrospect. Most humble apologies are offered to all children and
parents who believe they have been unfairly treated. The only hope is
that the system in place for next year’s event is without flaw.
