LIFE FOR FAIRFORD HOSPITAL.
If you need to see a Consultant In the following specialties, you can now
do so at Fairford Hospital out-patients:
When your doctor suggests that you need to see a specialist in any of these areas, you can ask about being seen at Fairford Hospital. Waiting lists are often shorter than at the big hospitals, usually you see the same specialists that you would see at Swindon, and you can park free outside the door! Many patients have already discovered the convenience of these developing services, and we hope for more services to come in future months. |
Also at the Hospital on a Monday is the Luncheon Club, at present at its maximum membership. The Volunteer Car Service can help you to get to Fairford Hospital, and also to the other local hospitals and to your doctor’s surgery. We always need new volunteer drivers for this service, so please get in touch if you can help. Physiotherapy is available from Fairford Hospital, also provided by the League of Friends.

HOME NURSING |
HELPING POEPLE | ||||||||||||||
| If you are very ill, but want to stay at home, we can help. We have a registered nursing service, the Friends in the Community Home Nursing Scheme. This care provided free by the League is arranged when your GP or District Nurse contacts our Nursing Co-ordinator who then makes the arrangements. | The League of Friends funds physiotherapy for older people to cut waiting times, and also supports services for those in need of mental health support, and plans to develop new services for young people in future. | ||||||||||||||

What Next for the League The Fairford Hospital League of Friends is working with the Prospect Hospice at Wroughton to see if we can arrange a contract for Lechlade and Fairford patients to get in-patient care there for our community. In-patient care for the seriously ill at the end of life was what Fairford Hospital provided so well for so many years until the beds there were closed two years ago. We have had a working group assessing need for our communities in partnership with the local doctors, and this provision is an area of care that is most missed just now. We will tell you more about this in the next newsletter. Also we are planning to establish a foot care service to attend to patients who do not qualify for NHS Podiatry, but who cannot fund their own care. More about this soon! We are working with Cotswold PCT and Swindon and Marlborough Trust to
replace the temporary X-Ray service at Fairford Hospital
with permanent equipment, and we have set £70,000 aside to pay for this. For more information on these services please
