Fairford Swan Aid is a small voluntary organisation dedicated to the welfare of swans in and around Fairford.  We rescue sick and injured swans with the aim of returning them to the wild as soon as they are well. We have been operating for 14 years.

We constantly monitor the swans in our area which covers the River Coln in Fairford and the surrounding villages like Bibury and Quenington, the River Thames at Lechlade, Buscot, Kelmscott and Kempsford and the numerous lakes in the eastern section of the Cotswold Water Park.  By knowing the swans in our area we are often able to rescue them before their injuries become too debilitating.  We also lobby for a more swan  friendly environment and have succeeded in getting Southern Electric to put swan diverters on overhead cables at Fairford and Lechlade.

Fairford Swan Aid works closely with other organisations like the Environment Agency lock keepers, local angling clubs, the police and other swan rescue organisations.

We are most fortunate to have the services of avian specialist vet, Neil Forbes, of Lansdown Veterinary Surgeons, Stroud who gives our swan patients the best in veterinary avian medicine. He and his team help the ill swans to make as speedy recovery as possible.
