In mid June the Environment Agency cut a 10 foot channel in the weed in the River Coln between the Town Bridge and Cutler's Ford. This led to a lowering of the water by the Town Bridge which is good news for neighbouring properties.

In August, the Environment Agency will remove any trees that have fallen into the River Coln down to the BroadBroads. Their experts advise that there will be no more need for mass removal of riverside vegetation, reeds etc further downstream from Fairford than Cutler's Ford as this will not affect any potential flooding in Fairford. The conservation value of the river will therefore not be harmed as this is a prime concern for the Agency.

Cotswold District Council received £ 2500 for Fairford from the company building the Coln Park second home development at Claydon Pike and this will be used to fund equipment for local volunteers to keep the Court Brook clear which is important for carrying surplus water away from Fairford. Ironically, since the Coln Park development began to be built there has been major flooding in its surrounding area.
